The hype for the long-awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake has once again gone up a gear as Square Enix has released a free PS4 demo for the game on the PlayStation Store.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake demo will allow players to experience the opening chapter from the game, and the events of the Mako Reactor 1 bombing mission. Those who download the demo before May 11th will also receive an exclusive PlayStation 4 theme when the game launches on April 10th.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced at E3 2015 during PlayStation’s E3 press conference, and fans of the original 1997 classic and those who never played the game met the announcement with thunderous applause. While people waited eagerly to play the game two years after its announcement, Square Enix decided to change developers, originally the game was developed by CyberConnect2 of .hack// and Asura’s Wrath fame, Square Enix decided that it would be better to develop the game in-house.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Part One will launch on April 10th for PlayStation 4. There is currently no word on when the future parts of the game will be released.
